Projects I support

Vietnam pheasant reintroduction
Khe Nuoc Trong Reserve, Vietnam
The Vietnam pheasant, a Critically Endangered species endemic to central Vietnam, is likely extinct in the wild. An ambitious programme is underway to reintroduce captive-bred individuals from zoological gardens in Europe and Southeast Asia to the Khe Nuoc Trong Nature Reserve in central Vietnam. VetRewild supports the development of a disease risk analysis for this complex translocation involving a little-studied species.
Greater Caribbean manatee
Guadeloupe, Lesser Antilles
Manatees were extirpated from the Lesser Antilles approximately a century ago due to hunting. Since 2025, the species has been observed in Guadeloupe, Antigua and several other islands, suggesting an emerging natural recolonisation of the region. VetRewild is actively involved in manatee monitoring, health assessment and necropsy, as well as in the development of protocols and decision-making frameworks.
